UPSEU Southington Paraeducators recently gathered at John F. Kennedy Middle School to present Eldon Hafford, the Executive Director of Bread for Life with a donation of $1,300. The Paraeducators, in joint partnership with the Board of Education, and with the assistance of Michelle Passamano, sponsored a Dress Down Day on November 19, 2014 and also a November food drive to help their local community program. Bread For Life services a multitude of people in the community. They offer a Senior Program, Homebound Program and Daily Lunch Program and now work with the Southington School District to help with the school breakfast program. In 2013, they provided over 36,000 meals and that number will be even greater this year. Not only are they a food service provider, but more importantly they are a social link for the elderly and homebound patrons, who benefit from their services. The mission of Bread For Life, "That no one may go hungry", is one that resonates with the paraeducators and they have pledged to continue their support for this most worthy organization.
