The United Public Service Employees Union, COPS Division would like to welcome the members of the Coventry Police Union.
Members of the Coventry Police Union, which includes sworn officers and certified dispatchers, voted to join UPSEU/COPS in an election held by the Connecticut State Labor Relations Board. This put an end to the representation from CILU/UE, who received only one vote during the election process.
"The members of this unit will now have the expertise that only a union like UPSEU/COPS can provide to its emergency service personnel," stated Ronald Suraci, UPSEU/COPS Director.
Our Public Safety Division continues to grow each and every year and we strive to provide our members with the highest level of representation and are committed to provide our representation 24 hours a day, during the times we are needed most. This makes the second police union this month to vote to change representation and become part of UPSEU/COPS. The members of the Hamden Police Department ousted AFSCME for a more professional union to represent the needs of its members. UPSEU/COPS will now become the certified labor representative for both the Hamden and Coventry Police Officers.
"We look forward to providing our newest members with the representation they have been waiting for and rightfully deserve," concluded Suraci.
