In a secret ballot election conducted by the Connecticut State Board of Labor Relations on January 29, 2016, the Marlborough BOE Paraeducators voted unanimously to join UPSEU.
The Marlborough BOE Paraeducators, who were previously represented by AFSCME, were dissatisfied with the lack of representation they were receiving. After receiving a recommendation from a member of another bargaining unit currently represented by UPSEU and learning about the many advantages of the organization, the group decided that UPSEU was the best fit to meet their needs.
Attorney and Labor Relations Representative Brooke Sherer stated, “The members became disenchanted due to AFSCME’s failure to be attentive to the unit. The members knew they deserved better and took it upon themselves to find the proper representation that they have so rightfully deserved over the years. UPSEU is grateful for the opportunity to represent the Marlborough BOE Paraeducators and provide them with the highest level of service.”
We welcome the Marlborough BOE Paraeducators to the UPSEU family!
