With the death of Supreme Court Justice Scalia, the long awaited decision which could have a dramatic negative impact on public employees will now revert to the lower court decision.
The Friedrich case, funded by individuals and organizations that wish to silence the voices and rights of public employees at the bargaining table have therefore been silenced by the 4 to 4 decision. Collective bargaining would have been severely impacted with a vote against public employees and their unions. Before the death of Justice Scalia, a 5-4 decision against public unions was anticipated based on oral arguments before the court.
The decision is clearly a victory for all public employees!
